On Monday, Mozilla released the latest beta version of Firefox 3.1. This new version adds more great features across all platforms.
- Private Browsing Mode
- Faster JavaScript engine
- Improved rendering
- Support for new web technologies.
The greatest feature however, is on the mac build. It features support for the multi-touch trackpads that Apple has been shipping since January. Already, of course, Safari supports these features. But, it’s the first time Firefox will attempt it.
The gestures supported are:
- Swipe Left: Go back in history (hold Cmd to open it in a tab)
- Swipe Right: Go forward in history
- Swipe Up: Go to the top of the page
- Swipe Down: Go to the end of the page
- Pinch Together: Zoom out
- Pinch Apart: Zoom in
- Twist Right: Next tab
- Twist Left: Previous tab
The new beta version is intended for testing purposes only. Mozilla hasn’t said on any other release date.
Stumble It!
